Three Tips To Treat An Acne Scar
Free Acne Tips by Doug Smith

Acne seems to show up immediately, but unfortunately there is no immediate solution to getting rid of it. We resort to all kinds of methods and tricks for getting rid of acne as soon as possible.

Some people seek medical attention, specialized treatment techniques, and even laser removal. Others prefer to pop or prick their pimples, which can lead to infection and even acne scars. How does one get rid of an acne scar?

Acne scars are usually caused by abrasions (such as scratching or picking) of pimples. When the abraded acne pimples eventually heal, the remaining marks are known as acne scars.

The best way to treat acne scar is to prevent it in the first place. Diligently follow an acne skin care routine to minimize or prevent acne breakouts.

If prevention is not an option, there are methods to treat an acne scar problem. Three of the most popular methods are summarized below.

* Take supplements of Vitamins A, C, and E. Vitamin E is a natural antioxidant that helps the body rid itself of harmful free radicals. Free radicals are outside chemicals such as air pollution, peroxides, or radiation that inflict harm on neighboring cells.

Alpha-tocopheral is a better Vitamin E alternative because it is more potent. Additionally, Vitamins A and C help to regenerate skin cells. This combination of vitamins can help acne scars heal faster and can be obtained naturally from food, or from purchased supplements.

* Use collagen supplements to stimulate collagen production in the skin. Collagen is a type of protein that assists with the repair of dead skin cells and other tissue. Collagen can be obtained in ointment form, or as a by-product of laser treatment with red laser light.

* Take good care of your skin while the scars are healing. It is possible for some acne scars to heal by themselves, so you should provide the best skin environment for them to do so. Healing may take from 6 to 12 months, so it is very important not to do anything that will irritate your skin and aggravate your acne scars. Excellent skin care gives the best chance for natural healing of acne scars.

The body is capable of healing many injuries by itself. We can speed up the healing of acne scars by providing the body with a little extra help in the forms of vitamins, collagen, and/or gentle skin care.
